JJ Mullor and Gömbök Project join forces on My Yard EP, a three-track release that reconnects the veteran Spanish producer with the tribal, percussive and hardgroove-driven sound that first shaped his relationship with club music.

Released via Supermarket Records, the EP brings together “Lady Panda”, “Mr Toyota” and “Tekno Birds”, three cuts built as genuine DJ tools: rolling basslines, persistent percussion and extended arrangements designed to work inside a mix rather than chase instant impact.

That approach feels particularly relevant within the current hardgroove revival, but for JJ Mullor it is less a new direction than a return to his roots. After a career spanning house, tech-house and techno, and releases on labels including Toolroom, Armada, Tronic, Nervous, Great Stuff and Pacha Recordings, his Gömbök Project alias has allowed him to reconnect with the tougher, more rhythmic side of his sound.

“Lady Panda” establishes the EP’s physical character from the outset, while “Mr Toyota” pushes the groove into a stripped, highly functional space. “Tekno Birds” closes the package with the same focus on rhythm, tension and movement, reinforcing the sense that every element has been designed with the booth in mind.

My Yard EP also reflects the renewed identity of Supermarket Records, which JJ Mullor has repositioned around hardgroove, techno, raw techno and peak-time material.

The result is a release that bridges past and present without forcing either side. It sounds experienced, direct and unmistakably made by someone who still thinks about electronic music from the DJ booth outward.
